I saw a 4pt yesterday that had already shed which is the first one I'd seen this year. Then, this morning I saw a 7 pt that had shed with 3 other bucks that hadn't yet. Also saw a spike Friday afternoon that was in velvet. All in Taylor County.
I just got back from bike riding the state trail that goes thru Croom. I seen 7 deer, one being a very nice 8 pt. Unfortunately he was back near the trail head where there is no hunting. His rack looked like it was about to lose the velvet. Also I have acorns dropping all over my yard and the ones I seen in Croom were still developing on the trees. I have a Croom BP hunt and I think I'll wait a few weeks before I do any real scouting so I can find some rubs. I rode to less than 10 yards from that buck and all four of them just froze then that little bastard fawn broke and spooked them away.
