Thanks, Its just that most of the guys I hunt with seem to trip over 8 and 10 pts.and only hunt a few times a year. I go every eve after work all week end, morning and eve hunt.have great pics on trail cam. I can only sit in stand for 3-4 hrs at best due to severe back problems, but I try as best as I can. The dumbest thing I did this year was I forgot about doe day and I was covered up in does that day and did not take any, what a dumd a_ _. well I just keep on going

Yeah...but the great thing about deer hunting is that buck of a lifetime can always walk in in the next 30 seconds.....and it sounds like its definitely your turn. It'll happen..

If it's a deer and it's legal, it's a good one! I've only killed 3 deer over the years - one buck with broke off antlers, one cowhorn, and a doe. If there's such a thing as an "unlucky hunter", I probably fit in that category. Sometimes I think I can sit a stand next to a tree full of ripe persimmons in the middle of the rut for 4 days straight, be there before dawn and sit in it until dark, and see nothing but coons, possums and armadillos. If I switch stands and some one else sits by the persimmon tree, he'll be back in camp with two 8 pt bucks and a large doe before the engine on my 4 wheeler cools down!

Well.....the only thing I can say is that the most important thing I have learned over the years of deer hunting is that you can get away with a little movement, and you can get away with a little noise.....but you definitely absolutely must pay attention to wind direction and your scent control...this is something that I have a hard time convincing young hunters of....not saying you are young or that you are doing anything wrong in this regard, but if you have the wind wrong and are stinkin, I dont care what you are sitting over...if its a thick area...the deer are going to wind you and be gone long before you ever see them. When I am hunting I bath right before every hunt....at least twice a day...use fresh hunting camo when needed and spray down with scent killer spray over everything especially my hat....and I have a deer feeding downwind of me within 20 feet for half an hour. I have also seen deer in Texas that were coming in downwind but a couple of hundred yards away look like they got hit in the head with a 2X4 when they winded me because I couldnt stay as clean as I would have wanted to on that hunt. It makes a huge difference....so if you cant control your odor, at least hunt the wind properly or your wasting your time and probably running deer out of a spot that you could hunt the next time when the wind is right.....but anyway......good luck and keep hunting........dave

I won't disagree with anything you've said, as scent control, etc. are basic hunting essentials -usually!

I'm not going to hijack this thread meant for folks to show us their kills, so I'm going to start a new thread about "My hunting experience", and if you care to read it you'll understand more of why I am an "unlucky hunter"!
