First time back in the stand since archery and I made too much noise getting in on account I couldn't find it right away in the dark. About 7:15 saw somthing small in the bushes slinkin under some tall pal mettos. Identified it as a deer but his head was in front of a tree and I could not see antlers, untill he took a couple more steps and I saw a small antlers with a split so probably a 4 pt. took the saftey off and he hopped over a creek but continued left to right. Never had a shot clear enough broad side and the only clear shot, he had his ass turned to me, so I choose not to shoot.. Still exciting and I think if it happened like that again I would do the same thing just try to identify quicker...
good choice... never shoot at an animal when his back side is facing you. Sometimes making noise getting to the stand will make animals want to come see what the noise is about. so it works both ways.. trying to be quiet and cracking that one stick is worse then making a whole lot of noise imo.
well the deer arent gonna come and investigate the sound of metal hitting metal when your climbin up the tree in the am lol
Yes they will.
