I have seen activity pick up but I am working twice as hard for the same $. I believe that people have sat on the fence so long that they have no choice but to start making some moves one way or the other. There seems to be a sense of cynical optimism out there as if everyone is wating for the other shoe to drop but will go ahead and start living their lives again. They are tired of having their heads stuck in the sand.

Agree with Skunkeape. I would have to venture things will get worse before better, since eventually the government won't be able to stop inflation and control interest rates due to the US dollars value continuing to drop. People are starting to spend and try to live life abit more, but most business are having to do alot more work or provide more services for alot less money at the end of the day. What's the incentive of taking the risk of being in business if you have no or a very little return on your investment? Alot of the big businesses and companies with plenty of assets, available cash on hand, little debt, and controlled overhead have been able to weather the storm so far, but it's not over yet.

I'm trying to sell a house in Pensacola since the Navy has now stationed me in VA. I've got it listed for 107,999 which is almost $30,000 less than I owe on it. The backyard is a little more than an acre. I haven't had a single person even come look at it. And, this is in a military town where houses priced fairly normally sell quickly because of a constant influx of new people.

So, no. I don't think the economy is improving. If it was, I'd at least have someone look at the place.

My mom has a house in Vidalia, Ga listed for 9 months now and no takers. And the house is priced fair and completely remodeled from the floors to the roof

I had my rental house listed for 4 months and it had a total of 2 showings. ended up renting it out again

Well i also agree with sunkkape.. I got all these "Git R Done" Handy men out bidding me.. I mean if i bid like 4 gs on a job they come in at like 2gs.. I mean dam i have already dropped my prices.. I have noticed that if you get contractors getting you work in high priced areas you can charge top dollar and get it and still have work. I do alot of work in Snell Isle and the contractor only does high quality work. Thats good work and steady. I realized that you must once in a while do a free bee for them to keep them on yoru good side. I just did a bamboo repair. I charged 400 bucks.. Normally i would charge 600.. Then i also put up new base, trim, tapcon boards to concrete and painted the trim for the same price. Thats what keeps you in good with contractors. Then i told him with all the extra work i did ill still charge the same 400 bucks. Was suppose to be a 4 hour job, turned into a 8 hour job but hes happy and i got two more big jobs off it.

Im sick of these handymen. They take all my work. I mean literally if i charge 2.50 per square foot for my work. ( and not to brag) but im one of the best flooring installer/Refinishers around, These handymen come in at .75 per square foot. And tear up the job. THen the customer is pissed and already spend his money and will not call you ti fix it because he dont want you to say "I told ya so"

But oh well.. Thats life.
