I'm not defending the program I think its a stupid idea, but I know in Orlando they give away gift cards for 50 bucks, not cash. The gift cards are donated by whatever store they are for. What people should do is trade in their broke guns for the 50 bucks (I'm talking not worth repairing) and if they want to turn over a usable good condition gun for 50 bucks post it on gun trader or a forum for 100 dollars and help us out.
I do believe they would arrest you for dealing in those same stolen goods. They got a good monopoly going if you ask me. Nothing like arresting your competitor.
Well, I'd only accept certain weapons, and I'd at least run the serial #'s through some online stolen gun searches:
FDLE - http://pas.fdle.state.fl.us/pas/item/displayGunSearch.a
I'd also get ID and a signed statement from the seller, just like any other gun purchase from an individual. I figure legitimate sellers wouldn't mind doing that for any extra $25, and if they didn't want to, they can go get $50 from the cops.
My comment was made "tongue-in-cheek" but you are right, done legitimately there is some money to be made off this scenario. Might not make big brother happy but its capitalism as it was intended...
They had one in Orlando not too long ago and the police called my buddy to let him know they found one of his that was stolen a few years ago. They checked it to make sure it was not used in a crime and all he had to do was go down and show him his ID. Got his gun back with no problem at all!

That's good. Wish they all were like that. I saw one on the news a couple years ago where they took the guns directly from the drop off site to a furnace.
They are required to destroy the guns, But! Only the recievers and barrels. The sights, clips, grips, any accecories (of interest) get stripped and kept by the L.E.O. doing the buy back.
I know this to be FACT.
