Greetings all,
I just found this site and jumped at the chance to register for it. Names, Tom and I'm an active duty Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. Currently stationed in Pensacola, Fl for the last 2 years. My actual job is working with the local recruiting district but I'm not a recruiter. I'm the Naval Special Warfare Coordinator for the states of LA, MS, AL and the Florida Panhandle. Basically, my job is to locate, train and motivate potential Navy SEALs, Divers, EOD Techs and SWCC crews. In other words, I try to find the guys with special talent and skills.
I'm originally from Colorado, but the last 21 years in the Navy have taken me to many states and countries. I've visited all 50 states, 3 U.S. territories and 49 countries. Love to hunt. Used to do a lot of fishing, but got so spoiled on fishing while I was on Diego Garcia that I haven't put a line in the water for years. Hope to change that while I'm in FL. Most my hunting runs to big game, but I enjoy chasing the smaller stuff as well.
I've hunted in the states of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, California, Hawaii, Texas, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida. I've also hunted British Columbia, Saskcatchewan and have made 5 safaris to Africa. At last count I have bagged somewhere around 68 species of big game around the world, but would have to say that elk, mule deer and whitetails are still my favorite. Would love to get into some hogs, but don't really have a place to try or them yet. I've done alright on deer in FL so far. In the last seasons, I've taken 4 bucks and a doe in Escambia and Okaloosa counties.
I'm looking forward to exchanging ideas, knowledge and experiences with all of you.
Cheers
Tom Cacy QMC(SW) USN

Welcome, Tom, and thanks for your service to the country!
I spent about 10 years in your neck of the woods, stationed at Hurlburt Field for 6 years and then living there in Ft Walton Beach for 4 years after separating from the USAF.
You've got to start fishing, as that area is full of great redfish and trout. Also, the big cobia run should be taking place any time now. You also have some great man-made reefs off P'Cola and the grouper, amberjack and red snapper are calling!
Do you hunt the Eglin Reservation?
That's a great area, and I do miss it sometimes. Enjoy it all you can, and if you can take a hop sometime down here to MacDill, let us know and we'll try to hook you up with something!
Welcome aboard
