I love upstate and miss it very much. I want more than anything to get a second deer down here but it seems so hard and far away. up there I can go on any state land without quota permits and hunt all season. I hope I make some great connections and get to go with some guys close to where I live within a few hours or so. by the way I am a ex- certified powersports tech and will help out with machines for some invites if necessary. yamaha can am kawasaki and suzuki

What part of "upstate NY" did you grow up? I was raised 40 miles South of Buffalo and my folks have a small hobby farm up there. We also have 6o acres of family land down in Franklinville, NY which sits right next to the "Golden Hill" State Forest Land Tract of 2300 acres, no permits required there either. I left in 1987 for the Army and have tried to hunt up there every year, ever since. Some years it happens some years it doesn't. Going up on the 14th of December for my mothers 65th B-Day Surprise party and hope to get out with my Dad (68) and do some Ruffed Grouse and Cotton Tail Rabbit hunting on the 16th. Pray for some snow....

It's a whole different world down here with hunting and access to state, federal and private land. Been here since 2005 and it's even worse (access wise) than Georgia where I lived while in the service from 1998-2005.

This is a good forum. Welcome!
