Hey, Electricguy!!! Welcome from a Red Sox guy who will NEVER give up his cap!!!
I just moved from the Merrimack Valley last year, so I don't have much more experience than you. I will tell ypou that you'll LOVE southern hospitality! It's everything it's cracked up to be. And the food is outta this word- except boiled peanuts ( :nono cannot get used to them!).
It is not like up there where you can hunt almost any land that isn't posted. It may be a little easier to hunt down in Naples, but ask around. These guys will help you out- heck, they even tolerate me! LOL!
And definitely keep your dog close and up to date on shots. Do NOT let it (or your kids) near the water alone and always have your eyes out for gators. I was given this good advice: if there's water, there's probably gators in it. And not every snake is poisonous, but...
welcome to the site

I don't think I wanna try catfish, tho- unless you can get the gearse outta it. I've yet to git me one o' them fried Twinkies or Snickers, too! Had me a great feed a Sonny's today! Baby back ribs, pulled pork, cornbread, baked swee'tater- Mmmm-mmm GOOD!
Now, if only I could find me some fried clams, scallops, scrod and lobster!!! Don't want no mountain oysters!!! And you can keep your pork rinds, too!
And, electricguy- don't EVER say you wanna hunt 'boars'!!! They be 'HAWGS' down heah! Y'all!!!
I usually make a run up to Ga sometime in August when I get word they are ready.
