My dad has been catching limits of mangrove snapper every day for about the last 10 days down in Englewood, and asked me to come down today and help him catch some more! He'd been catching them about 14-15 inches at the Englewood bridge and in a spot he knows, so I headed down about mid-morning.

We headed out around 11:15am to catch some bait and get to the bridge by high tide a little after noon. We fished the first few hours of outgoing, about an hour at the bridge, and hour at the other spot, then an hour at the bridge again. We got a limit of snapper for 2 of us, but they weren't huge, biggest just over 13, most around 11 1/2. I caught ALL the keepers! Plus I caught a 14 inch flounder. Once we got the limit of snapper, we headed to some flats to try to catch some trout or maybe a pompano. Dad's wife caught a 22" (about 19" to fork) pompano earlier this week when she fished with him out there, the first pompano she'd ever caught! We didn't have such luck, so about 3:30pm we headed in.

Anyway, enjoyed the day, and had broiled snapper with salsa for dinner. Didn't take any pics, though.

I might go wade fishing tomorrow if my sunburn ain't too bad!
