Fished the melbourne beach area this morning.
Bait-fresh clams/shrimp/whiting heads
tide-high and going down
weather-sunny-started out around 55 and ended around 70
Started out with 2 rods for pompano/whiting. Top/bottom rig with shrimp on 1 hook and clam on the other. First hook up was a double header with bluefish/whiting. It was a steady pick all morning with average size whiting. I filled up a half bucket and was actually quite picky. I threw at least a half bucket back. If it sat out for more than 2-3 minutes you had no bait left. I had a heavy setup for shark out with some fresh whiting heads but no takers all morning. The water was COLD....low 50's. Great morning and a great dinner!
Thanks for the report.
Good to see someone getting out and wetting a line. :toast
Whiting and fresh blues can be tasty! Don't get many whiting over on this side. Usually find them when fishing the passes for pompano. Glad you had a good outing!
Good report
