Where: Steinhatchee Springs WMA

This WMA has a short gun season. It ends Dec 1 completely, and stays shut down till January 11 (2014) when small game opens up. That gives it a month and a half to rest, so the opening weekend it is usually no problem to see hogs. The place is full of oak hammocks so finding a bunch of bushy tails is not a problem. ALso the red maples start blooming about that same time and they go nuts over those seeds
When: Jan 11th, 2014

I was thinking the adults could bring stuff for prizes. Nothing fancy. Blanket prize type stuff. Useful things Kids would enjoy and appreciate. If everyone brought something, there'd be plenty for winners and even stuff for the losers. No reason the kids couldn't leave with something neat.
How about it?
Looks like it's a pretty big place. Plenty of room to roam.
I’m game, although I’ll probably go by myself. Any campgrounds close by worth staying at? It is a 3.5 hour drive from my house or an hour from my lease, so probably need to camp close by, or stay at my hunt camp and drive there. Great idea about adults bringing something as prizes for the kids. Will be a good opportunity to meet some of the folks we haven’t met before.
I think Iluv2hunt has some info on places to stay. He's sort of a local there in a way. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.
Sounds good. Looking forward to this.
