Look folks, there's no way to schedule this so it accommodates every single person. I'm sorry, but them's the facts. If we wait until the perfect time, it will never happen. We saw that a while back when we tried to set a date/time to meet up at Ft DeSoto a couple of years ago. So I'm going to schedule this for the end of March or beginning of April, like we did last year. We had a good turn out and the folks that could make it had a good time, the weather was great for hanging by the fire and hunting hogs.
I think there's enough interest from people who won't be hunting turkeys, taking their wife out for her birthday, getting a root canal, washing their hair, serving on a jury, "walking for the cure", or anything else. Those of you who have other stuff planned and can't make something that doesn't even have a date set yet, well, I hope you have a wonderful time doing what you do when you do it. Maybe someone will organize another get-together at a time when you can make it. I might even be interested in setting up another one in late June or July when my son is home for a visit before he goes to Korea for a year. But I'm taking them one at a time, and this one is gonna happen as planned, late March/early April.
Thanks for the reminder Gary. I'll be walking for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation on March 24th in Miami. My 5 yr old niece has it bad and it's the least I can do. Seems like every other week she's heading to the hospital and she wants to be involved. Bravest kid I've ever known. Pick a weekend and let us know. I'd love to catch up and hang with you guys. Will I have to wear a name tag?
:smartass
Trapper Dan, let's go ahead and plan for that weekend, Mar 30 - Apr 1st.
So now that the prices and dates are out there, let's see who wants to do this.
With 6 people splitting cost of cabin it's only $20/night per person. I'm in for that, but if we don't have room for everyone who wants the cabin, I can bring a tent or sleep in my truck!
So I'm in, will be there all 3 days if possible.
If you are going to participate, post here what days you will be there, and whether you want to stay in the cabin or make other arrangements. Then make sure you PM me with your contact info -name, phone number, email address, good time to call you, etc.
I'll talk to trapper dan and figure out if we need to set a max number of folks, maybe get a pig to roast and cost for that, and other details.
Gonna be one to remember! :rockon

Let us know if you're taking pledges or donations! Hope you can make it up to Williston the next weekend after the walk!
Pencil me in. May bring a buddy of mine. An older guy-ex Nam vet, bad health issues, can't walk too much anymore. I'll see if he is up for it. If I do come I will be bringing my 8 year old son and attempt to let him be trigger man. Ill need a feeder with a bunch of stupid crippled pigs for him to shoot :pinch
If anyone has a food request from my previous recipes let me know and Ill try to throw it together.
And if I do come me n JR will tent it( I can't sleep around snorers) but will need a plug in for a fancy dancy air mattress that Medicaire paid for. (I have 2 of them in case anyone is short I will be glad to bring it)
Mike, let us know if there is a cap on how many folks you can accommodate. If we get to too many let us know. I personally don't care about shooting anythin but would like to try to get my son to pull the trigger on something
Gary and Trapper Dan, you know I'm in. If it's anything like last year, were gonna have a ball!
My son and I will be there. Please put up a date and I will put it on the "wardens" calendar!!!! :rockon
Sure am looking forward to seeing you guys again, don't forget the guitars and stories!
IL2H, it will be great to have you and your friend along, as well as your son. Fishindad's son really enjoyed himself last year. Might need to put you in charge of the pig roast! We had some tasty burgers and hotdogs last time, and we can do those, too! :bbq
