That's like 1.80 each. You get 12 with 3 butane refills for 9.99, or that's what I thought. Am I wrong?

After searching around, I can't find a refill pack with that many that cheap. Most have 4 butanes and 12 pads for about $25 (more when you add shipping). Shoot, at walmart.com just a single butane and three pads is $18.00!

Anyway, just got word from Thermacell that they will sell pads at $1/ea if you buy 1000 or more at a time! Anyone interested in a group buy?

Let's see... $50 = 50 pads = 200 hours on stand. Hunting days (NW Zone):

  • Archery: 31 days
    Crossbow: 5 days
    Muzzleloader/Archery: 14 days
    General Gun: 75 days
Small Game (add'l days): 13 days
    Spring Gobbler: 36 days
  • Considering that all of us don't have the opportunity to hunt every single day of the season (probably only 30% of actual hunting days), that leaves a total of about 51 days of hunting. And, since the most hunted times are between the hours of 0400-0900 and 1600-1900, that's about 8 hours a day on stand when the skeeters are most likely to be out, so about 400+/- hours on stand. Since each pad lasts about 4 hours, you'd need about 100+/- pads. And since the butane refills last about 11-12 hours each, you'd need about 30+/- butane bottles. This doesn't take into account the fact that some places have less skeeters and some have more. And most skeeters die off sometime in Jan or Feb after the first couple hard frosts.

$100 for pads, and about $60 for butane (@2 for $6). I'm thinking that the $1/pad is a pretty good deal. Will only take like 10 guys to fill the 1000 min order.

If you don't want to do the butane refill thing, I might be able to get bulk pricing on the butane as well, or the whole refill kits. But seems to me the refilled butane and $1 pads is a pretty economical solution. Of course, when you're getting eat up by skeeters that could rape a turkey, it don't matter how much the stuff costs!
