I don't know how your thermacell pads, but after 16-8 hours, the backside is completely black, almost to the point of being burnt. I'd be kinda afraid to start a fire.

That is a slightly used one. One of my spares in case mosquitos are to much. Always carry 2 just in case. I mostly use the cardboard that comes with my dress shirts, under the collar.

By the way, the idea is not mine. I learned it from a video in Youtube that shows how to refill and use mosquito coils. He uses a sock to cover the coil pieces but that didn't work well for me.

Tried something different yesterday you might try before going to the woods. I got the coils at Wally World (yea my wife works there) and instead of breaking them up into small pieces to lay in the grill just break them the width of the grill just like the pads and slide the piece under the grill. I got 2peices to slide under the grill and fired it up for couple of hrs in the back yard did the job but still have to try in the woods to be sure. Home Depote has the large replacement pack (4butane and 12mats) for 19$ I think it is for back up in case the coils don't quite do the job.

That's about the best deal I could find on the large refills too.

I gave up 2 multi packs total of 8 butane and 24 pads...will save the butane bottles and will trade them for 6 set up as refill bottles.

What are the pads made of? with that you can use their solution for soaking them or deet or the other stuff that replaces deet.
