After seeing link on here, yesterday fixed up 4 refillable bottles and refilled w/butane and they work perfect.
yup, I'll never buy another refill pack again. I soak my old pads in a home brew repellent mix and they have been working fine. got app 10 btl's and 20 pads. I've had my thermacell unit going on 3 years now & occasionally it's stubborn to light and stay lit but was curious as to the life expectancy on one.
I can't leave anything alone, a few mods I made were : glue on a few pieces of orange tape so I don't lose it, screwed in & j-b welded an I screw with a split ring and snap swivel to hang it anywhere.
I put a few pieces of velcro to mine and can attach it to my treestand. depending on which way the breeze is blowing, I can make sure the "smoke" drifts towards me.
What do you use for repellent?
agricultural grade permetherin10% for livestock from tractor supply 8 oz btl app 10-15$ and dilute 1 part to 100 water, also use it in spray btl dispenser. can't say how healthy it is for skin contact or inhaling fumes, but it seems to work good.
