My buddy wanted me to try a skinning knife. His bro in law gave him and tell him what I thought. I used on one of the hogs I shot during first week of bow. I was made by havalon knives and it uses #60 scalpal blades. No effort at all to skin hogs, scalpal blades are so thin there is no drag on the blades. Right after cleaning that hog, that blade would still shave hair!I ordered one over the phone before getting in the stand for the afternoon. Ordered the ( Piranta Z)$35.95 came with 12 blades, ordered 2 dz extra blades at 5.95ea, and belt case.
I skinned my two bucks with my new one and after quartering w/reg pocket knife, I cleaned& cut meat for freezer, cleaned up backstraps, muscled out all four hams. That blade would still shave hair! That is the fastest I have cleaned and butcherd hogs or deer. Wished I had one 20yrs ago.

Very interesting. I am a knife junkie, so I might have to add one to my arsenal. Only negative I see, If I were to add one w/o ever touching one...is they might be too sharp. Seems to me if a knife is too sharp, you end up cutting thru the hide constantly. I tried out a new Dexter on the hog I skinned today and cut thru the hide about every fourth or fifth knife stroke

I thought the same way about that knife when my buddy wanted me to try it. With this you don't have to use knife strokes when cutting. I just pull the hide, touch the blade and with a little pressure just pull it around. Keep pulling hide downward and out, keep blade touching all the time and drag it where you want to cut. With me when a blade starts dulling, I hate to have to stop, wash off and sharpen knife. I like to not have to stop untill game is quartered and in cooler. This is the dream skinner for me, I have tried lots of knives and when I first saw it I was like' ya right', but then I tried it. Might not be the best for everybody, but if you're looking for a faster, smoother knife check'em out.

I have a couple of these also. The blades will not take any prying at all but they're sharp as he77. It definitely makes skinning a little easier. I figure it's just a matter of time though before I cut myself good changing out the blade.
