ok I picked up a climbing treestand and the guy threw in his safety harness. He gave me a breif rundown on it all but would like to some more advice on putting it on. I have never worn one before. I know I should replce it but it will have to wait till next season. Here are some pics.

Those harnesses that come with tree stands are not the best in the world. Not that they are not safe, just a PIA to put on. They usually are a tangled mess. Best advice I can give is to put it on before you leave the house

Eeach arm is going to go thru each arm hole, like putting on a jacket. Then the loose straps will go around each leg around the groin and latch into those buckles.

The extra piece you have there goes around the tree and tethers to the longer strap which will be at the base of the back of your neck. HArd to really describe

Best advice is to get a Hunter Safety System vest style harness. They go on really quick and have seat belt buckles. They make an economy version that is the same thing as the regular one. Only difference I can find is the material used to make the vest is cheaper. Also get the rope they sell for Summit stands. Comes with a carabiner and prussic knot. Makes adjusting the tension really easy
