So these things seem to be the latest craze since skeeter season is in high gear. They have been hard to find. I have been stopping at all wal marts I pass this week while working and all have been sold out. Only the refill pads on the shelves.
I swung into a Target (I despize Target) and they had one left. I grabbed it and a pack of refills. Went to the truck and opened the box.. There is a 1$ coupon off of refills in the box, so I ran back in and got an extra pack of the refill pads.
Ive been really curious about these things and really wanted to know how the fan worked.
The first problem is that the thing is blue. That is the worst possible color to have on you when hunting. Ok , so you can paint it. Not a big deal
I turned it on and the fan is EXTREMELY loud. I mean, if this thing is running while you are in a treestand, I would guarantee it is loud enough for a deer to hear it. It sounds like one of those little bitty fans you get with the foam blades on it.
I sprayed my yard and shrubs the other day,so I can't do a skeeter test on it (because I dont have any skeeters here). It runs on 2 AA bateries. I am going to try to do a battery test tomorrow to see how long they will last.
Gonna go to my hunt camp this weekend, so I will do a skeeter test with it
If this thing works, it will be great for around the house or fishing, but I will be sticking to my thermacell come bow season
can't beat them therma-cells. love mine. use it in georgia during bow season. and here.
I dont think you are going to find anything to compare with Thermacell, yeah its a pain to always make sure to have refills and such, but I would hunt without my gun before I would hunt without my thermacell.
It didn't work worth a damn. I clipped it on my pocket while scouting, and it never slowed them down.
Sticking to my thermacell
