Ok... new guy dumb question time. I would guess the gut hook is almost a necessity for hog processing? yes or no?

that a cool sharpener. I have one of those Accusharps for portable use.

You can go to Lowe's and get a box cutter, and get the box of replacement blades with a little hook on them. Whole thing will cost less than $7-8. They work great for hogs and you can toss the blade when done

I never used a gut hook on deer only 1- time on that hog last year and I suppose it did speed things up, but at the rate I'm piling them hogs up that 1 disposable blade will last til I'm too old to pull a trigger. gonna give it another try in the am.
