This is the trike I was talking about, but they start new around $1500. Used, they start around $500 and go up. There are cheaper models out there, but they are front wheel direct drive, and have a 200# weight limit. The only good thing with those models is that they steer by leaning (no handlebar controls).

$1500 or $500, I can buy a mountain bike at Wally Mart for $70 and set it up the way I want. A set of ATV gun racks and a fat boy seat, along with a rattle can finish. I did the kid trailer thing. I stripped it down just to he frame and can use it for either my kayak, or a game cart on my bike. Never used it though on the bike
The recumbrent looks great but at 200lb weight limit my fat ass would destroy it...LOL You can order extra wide wheels and tires for any bike that would help offroad.
