I can see the pedal in the first pic. Right below the rear shock.

I rode that same style bike years ago. Once, I was 3 miles from home when the left side pedal nut loosened and came off. The pedal followed. I found the nut and put it as well as the pedal in my pocket(since I didnt have the correct socket to fix it in my tool bag.) and rode home with one foot going in a circle and the other resting on the rear axle nut.
I had clipless pedals which made it easier.

I felt off-balance and while walking my right leg went faster for a little while after I got off the bike.
