Will that app work in airplane mode?

Check the backcountry navigator app. You can get a 14 day demo for free. Satellite maps, topo maps, you can record tracks and download everything to Google maps, power points and all the good stuff. No need for phone reception and works in airplane mode to save battery, which is a plus when in the woods. $9.99 one time fee I think is an excellent app, especially if you like downloading maps from mytopo.com. Just 1 map pay for the app as mytopo maps are kind of expensive. You can take the file to a printer (i.e. Kinkos)and get wathever size you want for a lot less than ordering online.

I have that one too, but have yet to use it after I bought it.lol

The other nifty thing is the realtree compass. Its nothing more than a digital compass, but very useful

Thats the one i bought, download your map and then it works in airplane mode.

the only good thing about android is the free aps.. i got an iphone now and pretty much if somethings free it sucks so bad that you need to pay to actually use the functions.
