I try to spoil myself each year before season and get one nice thing for that year
This year I am going to get a decent set of hearing enhancement.

Are the walkers Game ear worth the money? Or is there another brand that is cheaper and as good?

I have a cheap set. They work good for enhancing your hearing, but they only have one microphone, so you are completely direction deaf. You can hear a twig break way away from you, but you have to take them of to get a sense of direction.
The other problem is certain noises completely drown out everything. For example, wind will about deafen you if it is blowing on the mic. ALso my lease is right on a highway. Cars going by are very loud

the problem i have always had with them is like you said, wind nosie is also increased, not to mention all the other ambient noises in the woods, birds callin, squirrels scurrying thru the trees and undergrowth, it just isnt worth it.
How many times you heard an armadillo moving thru the palmettos and thought it may be a hog or something?,with the "ears" that sucker is now louder , sounds like it is even bigger than normally, and you here it when farther off, so your watching over where you hear this "hog " off to the right behind you and miss the buck quietly skirt by to the right. Or it just totally drowns out that soft grunt

My problem is I have substantial hearing loss in my left ear. So there is a lot of times deer and hogs get in on me and I never hear them coming

dude.. the headphones that are called "deer ears" are good.. i like am.. BUT.. i mean you hear anything.. if you breath hard you will hear that and it will mess you up..But they also shut off when you fire a shot.. so its cool.. i use them at the range so i can hear people talking to me but when a shot is fired they go dead.. i like em.. for hunting they must be great for when you are just sitting in your stand and wanting to hear a deer walk up.

The walkers will not shut off. I have the game ear quad. I have good hearing so I only really use them at the range but I have let my father use them, he has really bad hearing. Now I cant take him hunting without him askiing for them. They are expensive but well worth the money. Once again, they do not shut off with loud noises but drop it to a safe level. The other thing great about the Walkers are that they are slim. You are not hitting your stock against them.
