Back in '85-'86 when I was driving from Valdosta-Lakeland and back at least once a month, I had a 78 F-100 and one of those 8ft whips on the back bumper and a Cobra CB. Caught a skip one night as I was going across Payne's Prairie and talked to a guy in Portland, OR for about 2 minutes. Didn't have any kind of amp, but it was usually good for 5-6 miles along the highway depending on terrain.

ok do ima start on the cb thing.. first im going to get the antenna.. now my question is. its hard to mount an antenna and get a ground on my truck. sooooo. i DO NOT want a magnet one. I want a firestick. SO can i mount it on the truck where i want and run a seperate thick ground wire off it to the body, or does it have to be grounded through the mounting screws?

either way works but grounding it to your trucks frame is the best way.

dont forget the spring mount carlos, you want it to bounce around and not bend when you hit tree limbs with it
