You may be able to add others if they can find the channels. Most of the FRS channels will work on many of the different radios. The problem we've had with them is that the range is far from optimal. I have a 22 mile set, and in the pines of north Florida, I'm lucky to have a 1/2 mile range on a good day. Sometimes, I think it would be easier to yell.

So if I am on GMRS will the range be better? What kind of license, HAM?

have them to like you said got about 3 miles in richloem marine radios r the way to go put on 25 watts they real quiet i know alot of people use them so far no problems w-fwc but then again cb are elegal w lenears on them , so you got to do what you got to do with the cb base for the house we all fergot need base ant which i like a ground plane sorry guys cant spell

I can tell you for a FACT that the FWC is cracking down on guys using VHF radios in the woods. If you are using one, be careful. I have used them too and they work, but be careful.
