Ok im looking to get a cb setup for my truck. Couple of questions.

1. What should i look for when buying one.
2. What brand is the best.
3. Buy the antenna separate?
4. How long is the distance on them. Basically up here i get no phone signal when im in the woods. I wanted to get a cb for my truck and have a cb at home to contact the house. But i just wanted to know the distance range on them.

Thanks.

I have 2 Galaxies I am getting ready to sell. Triple hi/lo's, power mic's, etc. You would need antenna's and co-ax cable. Also if you put one in the house you need a power converter. When I was in lafayette hunt club me and dad could talk all the way across it(25+ miles but that was with some peaking and tweaking

Your best bet would be to go to Cox electronics in Perry. Let them sell you one and install it, and it will be done right. They are good

Your other option would to be to put one in your truck, and get a hand held for the house. They make good hand helds nowadays

Either a long whip or one of those 6-9' Firesticks. I had a nice Royce back in the day, but it finally died with the dawn of cell phones. I've still got a decent Cobra, but it hasn't been used in years. I agree with the power amp. If you don't use one, you're only gonna get a 1-2 mile range on a good day. The marine radio is definitely an option, but, as outrunner said, they are illegal (at least using the 20W mode) on land.
