BUCKSHOT IN A SLUG BARREL

I'm sure that the subject title has grabbed some of your attention. I have a guy that works with me and he claims he has shot 00 buck out of his 22" fully rifled slug barrel for years and never had a problem. Shoots the sabot slugs as well.
Now I'm no expert, but I could swear that I read years ago that this was a big no-no. Am I right? I'm not gonna go back and throw any info back at the guy, just wanna make sure things haven't changed over the years.

I don't think it would hurt it but might not shoot very well.

yep seen it myself donuts out from the rifling and leaves a bit of lead fowling in the grooves.
