Is it a take down or standard model? It says Made in Belgium? I was not aware they ever made BLR's in Belgium, just the BARs. It's probably worth $650-$800, more if it's a steel receiver take-down. Does it have a factory recoil pad or an aftermarket? That will affect value also. Let me know.
Made in Belgium stamped on barrel....checkering and pad are factory.....fine older gun....Belgium made brownings are highly prized from what I have been told.....moved manufacturing to Japan later because of costs.....I think it is a pretty valuable gun....well over $800 but would like to find out for sure.....
thanks
You could check out the Blue Book of Guns at any major book store or Gunbroker.com. Gun Broker more or less has established the retail pricing of used and new guns nation wide.
A Belgium BLR is a rare gun, I never heard of one, only the BARs (semi autos). Would be interested to know what the book says it's worth...
Have done some checking on the net.....made in Belgium from 1969 to 1972 then moved to Japan.....generally regarded as a well made firearm.....prices can run for one of these from $300 to $2000 based upon condition, bluing, caliber, etc. Dont know about the older models, but this one has a lever operated, rotating bolt....pretty neat rifle and I always like carrying something the size of a carbine.....why I hunt now with a Thompson Encore...love the smaller lighter guns....especially when walking all day in the woods.
Haven't ever seen one made in Belgium. Only made for four years in Belgium, wow... You have a rare one chief. Did some quick searches on the internet gun auctions, the four major ones, and couldn't find a Belgium made BLR in any caliber, anywhere. What do you think of the new SS Cast Alloy Take-Down model?
I am also a carbine guy. Have a Rem 760 pump carbine in .308, a 44 mag Win 94 Trapper carbine, a 7.62x39 Ruger Mini -30 SS synthetic carbine, and the Rem 700 MTN 7MM-08 20" carbine. The BLR take-down SS laminated carbine is my next purchase. Let's work out a deal on my 7mm-08 so I can get into the new BLR. I work in Tampa M-F at MacDill and go home to Winter Springs on Friday afternoons. Could bring it over with me next week.
