Wanted Brush Gun
357 Mag that shoots 38 and 357 mag or even a 44 mag/44 Special. Single shot or Carbine, 16-18" barrel, light weight less than 7 lbs. Tell me what you have please. Am going to put a red dot or small scope on it. No I will not pay retail, I can get a new one if I wanted to do that. Frank
A buddy of mine has a nice Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag, blued on Walnut, not sure what he wants for it. I'll PM you and let you know. Personally, I'd buy a Winchester 94 Carbine Trapper in 44 Mag, but get your wallet ready as they start around $700 and go up for a used one.
Yeah that is what I wanted was the Trapper in 44 but too much for my wallet...way too much. I can get a new single shot below $250, just wanted to see what surplus was out there.
I'm thinking he'll probably want around $400-450 for the Marlin 1894 since a new one runs right around $600-$650, if bought from the right place. Some retailers are trying to get $700-$900 for them. The Marlin Lever gun is the next best thing next to a Winchester Lever Gun.
I have the Win 94 Carbine Trapper 16" 44 mag, Winchester recoil pad, had it ported by Magna-Port about 10 years ago, has a 4X Burris Scope on Weaver bases and rings, have a large and regular loop for it, and after all that I have about $800-900.00 in her (I bought it at the right price 10 years ago, $300.00). To replace it today with the accessories, modifications, and additons I couldn't get a set-up like that for less than $1,500.00. I also have a Win 94 XTR in .375 cal Big Bore that I just picked up on a trade. It shoots just like a 30/30..... Nice... And I made a great trade for two other guns I that didn't have $300.00 in. I got lucky again.
Don't think you'll find to much as far as surplus in pistol caliber lever guns these days... Good luck... I'll let you now what he wants for the Marlin 44 Mag 1894.
Now you have a sweet setup there. I should have bought one years ago. I have my 351 but the ammo is high and obsolete, it is a heavy gun to carry in the woods. Hey in these economic times you just never know, I have the $$ they need the $$
