I never realized that place was that way. I guess over the years of inherited land you can get a lot of different types in there. Back in the day it was all good.
An old man buddy of mine was an original member of the hunt club who raised the quail they used to stock it with and he tells me about the good ol days of river ranch. hes given his deed to his grandson and myself and we still rarely go.
Anyone here own property in River Ranch?
I own property in River Ranch,
Most of what you hear is true, I've been hunting in there for a long time (1985)but not in the last few years. The atv's have taken over. I still have a camp in there but the storms of 04 got my RV. I've also had to deal with broken windows and stuff like that. You can still deer hunt in there if you want to, you just need to get in the thick stuff or go way back in the woods. My camp is 4 miles off the hard road and the roads can get bad. You will need a 4x4 or park your truck at the gate and ride your atv in.
P.S.
I still own my Buggy if any one is looking for one :rockon
does not sound to good...
I bought a piece up there a while back and still haven't been. I went up with a buddy who had a camp about 10 years ago and did some hunting and saw some hogs and deer but came back empty handed. From what I've heard it's gonna be a place for me to take the family and do some camping and riding and that's it. Another buddy sold his campsite and buggy to someone who already had land so he kept the title and sold it to me cheap. My hunting buddy has a trailer we're gonna put up there and leave someday.
I read somewhere a guy was killed turkey hunting with his son a couple years back. Something about him calling and a guy walking by that shot into the bushes when he heard the call. Don't know how true it is but scary anyways. Good luck and let us know how the visit goes. :toast
