I made a walking stick/shooting rest that I simply can't live without. Cost less than $3.
Take a piece of 1"PVC and cut it between 4 1/2'-5 1/2' long(depending on your height). Glue a PVC cap on one end. Drill a small pilot hole in the end of the cap.
Get one of the hooks that look like these. They are in the tool aisle at wally world or in the garage section at HD/Lowe's.
Screw it in the hole you drilled, paint the whole thing camo and you are done. Makes a great walking stick, and you can lay your rifle in the hook for a good rifle rest.
On the other end, you can put a crutch tip. Or you can put another cap/hook and use it in a ladder stand. Hook it on about the second ladder rung, and it is right at the perfect height for a shooting stick while in a stand
Now THAT'S a great idea if I ever heard of one. I bought one of them telescoping shooting rests, but it's about as flimsy as can be. And you can't use it in the treestand easily. I'm thinking that Sched 40 would be a must, along with some kind of ring to attach the clip mentioned in the previous entry. Thattaway when you drop it (and you will) from the stand, it's retrievable.
one of the guys i hunt with has an old curtain rod with one of those screwed in to the end of it, he takes it everywhere. will go from like 3 1/2 ' to over 5'. its not perfect although it does work. i think he threw it together while at camp and has now had it for years. he takes it everywhere he hunts.
I call it the Game Crane, I designed and built it myself. patent pending and trade mark by Tim Pinkston.
Now that looks useful. I can see many uses for that.
Great Crane, what is the weight limit the way it is designed? Add an electric winch to plug into your trailer plug then a swivel to allow you to move the load into the bed of the truck and you have a hit, with a great commercial usefulness.(no charge for making your already great idea better to make you tons of $$$...LOL)
