so anyways back to my original question the 12 gauge slug is more or less 45-50 cal. i was just wantin to know for when i start huntin with it during gun season
Could be more or less, probably more. How many grains of lead in 12Ga slug compared to a .50 cal buffalo round,or a colt 45?A 45-70 has as much lead as a 12 ga. If you hunt with a 12 ga slug amd can shoot straight you'll have no problem. Key words "shoot straight".
So I guess to actually answer your question,it is equal to no caliber rifle. Some bullets are smaller in diameter and longer in length and wiegh more but could have more or less powder pushing the progectile.
Ya i can shoot kinda straight i took it straight to the range at 100ft all shots were kill zone sh 😈 ots
once again it depends on what type of slug you plan on using, all are somewhat different. if you are using a sabot slug thru a rifled barrel the caliber will be app 45-50 cal depending on brand and bullet wt. if you are shooting a rifled slug thru a smoothbore without any sabot, then it will be a larger diameter/caliber and heavier wt, depending on brand. if you realy want to go nasa on it cut one open and weigh it and measure the diameter/caliber with a set of calipers. any of them will tear deer/hogs up. the rifled barrel with good ( expensive ) sabot slugs are claiming 4" groups at 200 yds. I've killed 90 % of my game at about 20 yds.
Your sweating the small stuff to much, go hunting and enjoy yourself.
