I'm with Flags,after hunting over 30 years in Fl. I never seen a snake I had to kill or that I couldn't kill with a stick. Never seen a yote hang around long enough to worry about,and ain't no bear gonna stop me from getting to where I want to go if I have my rifle.Besides,your not supposed to carry handguns during bow season when you'd most likely need one.

this is all true. The bears tho... had me stuck in my stand one day and had allen stuck in his stand the day before.. so they do get out of control sometimes.
Sure they do,same thing happened to a good friend of mine. But he didn't need a pistol to make it out alive.If it was necessary he could have shot it with his .444. By no means am I against someone carrying a handgun,I just don't find it neccesary nor have I ever used one or needed one to save me from animals.
