Did it have two holes or did "that guy" just happened to find it and say he shot it?

Here is a short version of it.

The area I was hunting was knee to waist deep which made finding blood imposable. After the shot (52 yards, I aimed at 50)I watched him run about 30 yards and stop to see what happened. He was bleeding from his lower chest but slowly walked on. I watched him for about 20 min's walk around the flag pond very slowly till I lost sight of him. I decided to let him go for an hour and a half before I got down, knowing if I jumped him that was gonna be it. After getting down I headed to were I saw him last and searched the area, I noticed another guy 100 yards away walking around like he was also looking for something so I decided to just back off. I figured he either shot him or I wasn't going to find him till the buzzards helped.
I went back to the truck and waited for the guy to come out. When he did I asked him if he saw a buck, he kinda was hesitant and said was it a spike? I said no. I told him I shot a nice buck and it headed his way. He told me the deer he shot only had one hole from him so I asked if he minded if I took a look. Sure enough it had 2 holes. He was surprised and said he didn't see that even when he gutted it. He said it walked up to him with a spike and was acting just fine when he shot it.
So all I can do is take him for his word. I probably was not going to find him till the next day due to the water (thats what I'm telling myself) . So as crappy as it was at least he didn't go to waist.

Story over. I just posted the picture to show. If I wanted to "Claim" it as a clean kill or lie about the situation I could have but thats not my style. Nor was i going to get in an argument over a dead animal with a fellow hunter. I hope he was telling me the truth (not real sure about that) but it's over with and I've moved on. Now maybe some of ya'll can.
