I'm a dog hunter too. Don't do it rite now but will go out with anyone who does. If I see some thing I don't like i just won't go with them any more. I know my limits and that of my equipment. I see guys on TV taking game with bows of animals on the run at 60 to 90yds and I'm like dam man thats a hell of a shot. If I don't like some ones coments I will PM them and talk about it. Also I see guys killing buffalos with pellit guns. This is our team page not the ethics page. All these shots at animals are for clean kill, some times you just punch a hole in them and they run out of gas and the dogs find them. This my two cents. I make my own choices and don't need some one telling what there idea of good and bad shots are. Thanks for the derail NG............

Question- Why use buckshot?
...Just curious

The rifle was in the truck and I was covering around the curve and the straight away behind me. I should have grabbed the rifle instead but in the 'heat of the moment' I just didn't think I had enough time to reach in and grab it. I normally just jump out with the rifle and just didnt that time. It's safer to shoot buckshot on the ground (shooting level) also as it doesn't travel near as far as a 180 grain 300 bullet. I try to only shoot my rifle while standing on top of my dogbox or elevated.

Do I make it a habit of trying to kill bucks with buckshot at 100 yds? Heck no, that's a chip shot with my 300 win mag. But do I pass one up at that distance because it's a long shot....no chance lol!

Well i guess i need to add to this.. Yes a shot that far still hunting is not ethical. But with dogs.. When the dogs are on them and they run it cross a road taking a shot (While dog hunting, if the dogs are on it) is Something that happens at the spur of the moment. And most likely the dogs will get it. Now if your still hunting its not ethical at all. Because no one is gonna track and find that deer unless you are lucky. Lets end it at that and keep this thread for the team pics. Dog hunting and Still hunting are two different entities. I have done it with Jeff and know its a whole different world compared to still hunting with a different set of adrenalin, and last minute thinking.

Thanks. -Cr0ck1

We all enjoy the woods and posting up pics of kills and stories. The guy had a story and usually has some pics.I enjoy his posts and look forward to them,he don't deserve a grilling everytime he puts something up. That's all this was about imo. It's all good.

+1 :toast :toast :toast
