My hogs disapeared and the deer are coming by at midnight by my hwy stand.Hopefully something will change soon.
THe hogs are moving around a lot. They are hit or miss at my feeders too, however I have more deer sign than Ive had since spring. I learned something at one of my stands. The acorn crop is un-godly this year. I got a real long narrow hammock, and the opposite end is beat down with deer sign. I'm gonna ground blind ambush them there. We also had 3 fresh scrapes happen last nite after we came out of woods.
I'm hunting an oak flat by the hwy that is covered with green acorns. Plenty of deer tracks but nothing in daylight. I imagine the porkeres will come back and clean these acorns up pretty soon. Deer are alredy hitting my corn piles,I got pics of that.
Yeah they vacuumed up every piece of corn we threw out this weekend. Soon as I get a smoke pole in my hand the deer are gonna stack up. We planted killer food plots yesterday and got some really nice spots set up for gun. Deer hunting is supposed to be relaxing and my azz is slap wore out.
By tomorrow we will finally have all stands set and food plots planted hope
to have some venison in the freezer by oct 23
Just my luck that after I planted Saturday, the 10 day+ forecast shows a zero% chance of rain. Second time this has happened this year. The doves, quail n turkeys will have a field day
All together, we planted about 4 acres. Not bad for 2 fat guys and a 4 wheeler. Plus we had 2 other areas that we just used the disc to knock down overgrown grass to make nice fields. We definitely have some spots to stretch your rifle barrel out this year. We did a smörgåsbord of a mix. Oats/wheat/rye mix, along with a fall mix that had winter peas/rape/clover, etc, plus a bag of secret spot and about 5 pounds of turnips(which spilled in the back of my truck). I'll probably have the fattest quail in N. Florida
I'm new to this site, but I just had to say that might be the greatest name for a team I have ever seen!
