My neighbor told me that areas where hogs are active will have no snakes as they'll catch and eat them all. I don't know if that's based on any truth but I have to agree that parts of my property where there was recent rooting activities never seems to have any snakes.
In areas with hogs there will still be some snakes but hogs put a hurtin on a snake population for sure. I haven't seen anything a hog won't eat.
you won't see to many bull frogs either if it is close to water. the pigs eat them to.
I stepped on that one unlocking the gate last Saturday. He was whacking the side of my boot till I realized what was going on.
Been there with a 3-4 foot diamond back but I had snake boots on.
I almost kneeled on a 3 foot cotton mouth on the river this week end.
While in Swaziland, I had this little guy (about 18" long) in my bathroom one night. I was getting ready to get into the shower and was going to put my shaving kit on the back of the toilet tank and there he was, coiled up behind the TP... The guard who came to remove it said it was a black mamba juvenile. Turns out it was a marbled tree snake. It won't kill you like the black mamba but it's bite can make you sick and swell up. Glad I wasn't sitting on the pot!! :eek
