Just curious what everyone else is wearing for scent free clothes in this heat. I hunted this last week in by Scent Blocker coveralls and man were they soaked by the end of the day. I played the wind and never got busted but I thought I would die from heat exhaustion by the end of the day.
I wear a pair of 5.11 tactical pants I got at the salvation army store for $4.99, a Wal Mart stay-dri t shirt, and a leafy jacket. I try to plan and hunt the wind as best as I can. I can say the wind has not swirled as bad as it did last year at this time. Most hunts this season it has , for the most part, stayed out of one direction. However, I noticed a NE wind (which is showing on accu weather and weatherbug on my phone) blew out of the due West to NW till 9AM on both Sat and Sunday out of one particular stand. It then settled down and blew NE
I have only been busted once this season. A doe that was out of sight, but obviously in her scent path. The buck I missed last weekend, the wind was blowing right to him for 10 minutes, and my son was eating a pb&j sandwich during that time. He never spooked. Even after getting his hair parted with a broadhead
I walk in shirtless or in a T. Once I cool down and get in my stand I change shirts. I prolbably change shirts three times a day keeping my wet ones in a ziplock.
do the "scent free's" really work?? some tests I have seen using a police K-9 says no. the dog always finds the "bad" guy. your thoughts.
You cannot fool a deer's nose. period. Try your best to hunt the wind. early season the wind swirls bad and doesn't stay constant out of one direction. That is my worst enemy
