You sayin putting a dog deer hunt season for some time on all WMAs? I wouldnt mind it at all. If you want to run dogs for a few weeks or a month at a WMA that doesnt usually allow it then go ahead. And no the dogs dont chase the game outta the area. Like i said earlier, its all public land and we should all be able to use it no matter what way you hunt. Just because you run dogs doesnt mean you should be banned from doing it on state land, thats not right. I mean hell we are striving for equality right? Lets make it equal for ALL hunters no matter how you do it.
If tomorrow was voting day and there was a dog hunting proposition to open a dog running season on all WMAs, id vote for it.
Learn where the deer filter to when the dogs run and hunt!!!!! Do your damn homework and use dog hunters to your advantage. Everyone can cohabitate. I dog hunted for 20 years, don't do it any more, have family that still do, and hope it continues forever.
Aucilla wma is a dog WMA and my lease borders it. We are so stacked with deer right now it isnt even funny
my favorite hunts have been over dogs, theres nothing like watching a good well trained dog work, the pure joy it brings to them and you in return can't be beat. I've only used dogs for birds ducks/geese,grouse, pheasant, quail, but once you try it you'll never want to hunt any other way. I would not want to restrict anyones right to hunt. my brittany bitch can't hunt anymore due to torn cruciate ligaments ( both legs ) and I worry about snakes,gators and hogs tearing them up, didn't have to worry about that in N.Y. anyway there are slob hunters on both sides of the coin on this issue, I say educate/police/eliminate them whether they use dogs or not and our sport will impove for us and in the publics mind as well.
Dont worry Skunk Ape, Im not going to try to take anyones rights away. I know there are good Hunters and bad ones and I realize that. When I started this thread, I was still upset. I have accepted the fact that I need to move to another WMA.
And yes CrOck, I fly. Im actually a Flight Instructor (part time) Meaning I take on 1 student at a time. But I have been thinking of flying over a WMA to take a peek. We can set something up to go. Whoever goes, lets say me, you and another. we split the cost 3 ways. Plane cost $135.00 an hour. we can fly for an hour and get a lot in.
