A young friend gave me 2 used Moultrie cameras several months ago and I have been bitten by the bug! He said they worked ok but he was going to buy new ones. Now that I have played with them for a month or so, I too want to get a couple of new ones. There are so many on the market and there is such a price spread that I'm just confused by all the choices, plus being an old man I need something that is easy to use. Does any one have any solid recommendations and experience they would share? Treefarmer

I am partial to Moultrie, so I am going to suggest them. Depending on your budget, I would go with the D55-IR, or my favorite the new M-80. The M-80 has a lot more doo-dads on it and has a lot more cool functions

The battery life and picture quality are incredible on both

Whatever you get, go to camlockbox.com and get a locking box for it. It is well worth the extra +/-$30 it costs to know your camera is safe(from an honest thief anyway)

I am also partial to the Moultrie cameras. Am currently running 5 in Georgia and 2 down at the hog property. The d-55s are great IMO. battery life is very good also. For the money they are great cameras. If you check moultries website they have a page of internet sales only. it is refurbished cameras and feeders. Can save some money buying the refurbed stuff and they still give you a year warranty on it..

I have the moultrie D-55IR and the Primos 35 truth cam IR. I honestly have to say I like the Primos better. It seams to have a better trigger speed and has a faster wake up mode. This is just my observation from using both of those cameras the past year. Neither one of those cameras will take magazine type of pictures but thats not what I want anyway. All i want is to be able to see whats in the woods. The price is also better on the Primos model and talk about user friendly. Check out chasingame.com if you want some good reviews.

The Moultrie D55-IR are my favorites and simple to operate.
