We had problems on our lease the last couple years with bears, and a member from one of the neighboring clubs filled me on a little known secret (at least I'd never heard of it). I tried it, and it worked. Sounds a little cruel, but it causes no permanent damage. If you wrap a slice of bacon around a pepper spray can, tie it on with a string, and hang it about 6 feet off the ground on a sturdy cable/string someplace near your feeder, just not right on top of it, along comes mr. black coat, sees an inviting snack, and pow! sizzle, squirt off he runs, never to return. The next rainfall, any residue left by the spray gets washed away. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it myself. You do have to cut back on the corn though until after the start of season. At least that's what we had to do. Seems the bears up in Bear Creek head for the deep dark stuff after the first few shots of the season.

Just my 2 cents. Best of luck to ya. I'd also avoid any feeder supplements like feeder fire, etc. They have lots of stuff in em that the man in the black coat loves to eat.
