Scouted Guanna the past two weekends and I am really starting to worry about the bug problem. I have never seem so many mosquitoes and horseflies in my life. Especially during archery season where scent control plays such a huge factor, what do you all do for bug control. Does the smell of bug spray spook the deer? Are bug suites worth the money? Do thermocells work in super bad bug conditions? I need help...

Serious on the pickles. I read a few weeks ago about drinking a spoon full of vinegar, or eating a couple pickles night before going in the woods to keep redbugs and ticks off. 2 weekends ago I did just that, and it worked. I had no bites at all. Last weekend I got lazy and didn't eat any. I got the worst case of red bugs I've ever seen

Thermacell is great. I always use:Ben's Insect Repellent Spray Keep Lyme-diseased and West Nile virus-carrying ticks and mosquitoes off your back while enjoying the outdoors. This powerful spray repels black flies, ticks, chiggers, mosquitoes, deer flies and other biting insects. This 98% pure DEET formula discourages pesky insects from taking a bite for up to 10 hours. 1.25-oz. bottle fits easily inside your pack...or anyother 100% deet

So the 98% / 100% deet sprays to me have a very powerful smell. Do I need to worry about that spooking the deer?

Yes, chiggers & red bugs are the same thing. They are the larval stage of the harvester mite
