I spoke with Daryl last Saturday in Green Swamp. He had his blind setup on the Main Grade in GS just before you get to the check station when you're coming in. He was crouched down hunting as me and a number of other trucks were driving on the road.
While coming back from the store, I decided I had to talk to him. He was more than willing to show me the in's and out's of his mobile blind.
He was kind enough to let me snap a few pics and explain how he had another section that can attach to the top of this section, which allows him to stand up completely and shoot out of windows of his blind.
I was trying to keep a straight face as I spoke with him, but my friend was laughing his A.. off and was about to spit up his lunch he just ate. He ended up just driving off as I was mid sentence…. When we reached the check station I asked the guy if he saw the guy with the mobile blind. He said "yeah… that's just Daryl being Daryl." The check station guy went on to say that he's checked in game before, so his setup must work. I said good for him.
I just can't imagine him with a gun and shooting at a deer on the side of the road and having someone driving around a corner unexpectedly. Not very safe if you ask me.
gitr dunn :rockon :rockon
WOW thats all i have to say. :eek
your not allowed to shoot across a road. Thats the law. if he was parked on the side of the road he was shooting at thats cool. Now if hes not disabled hes just lazy. It is a cool setup but idiotic. Whats he scared of walking in the woods? Sory i just speak how i feel about that. Now if there was a field that was a clearcut that was 500 yards out and he wanted to glass it from his truck in that setup that would be ok. I have seen people in chazz doing that on the huge clearcuts and open fields. What this guy is doing is dangerous. IMO.
This guy looks someone who is scared to walk into the woods in the dark. So he just drives on the road and sets up and jumps in his home made blind on top of his truck and waits for the sun to come up. I will not lie at first when i started hunting i was allways weary of walking in the woods in the pitch dark. I would wait in my truck until the first light then walk to my stand. This method to me is not as effective as getting to your stand at 6 am before the woods wake up. I think you can see more game in the early morning if you get in the stand before light. I get to mine at 6 am 1 hour before first light.
