I forgot to mention that was the only deer we killed this weekend. There are 14 members in my dad's lease, and we were the only ones there. After I got the doe, I did not see another deer the rest of the trip. Dad saw a nice buck one morning, but he was moving fast through the pines and he didn't get a shot. My doe was the 19th deer killed on the lease this year. We filled all the feeders, and we got the tractor running so dad could disc a few plots and throw out some seed. He put out some deer mix, and added some turnips to it, throwing it by hand after discing the plots. Some of the plots still had too much grass, but he was able to get parts of them broke up and they should be good for later in the season.
It's something how the deer will come out to the fresh broke ground, even with nothing in it yet. We disced on Sat afternoon and came back Sunday afternoon to throw seed and dress the field. But Sunday morning there were tracks all over the fresh ground. Smell of fresh earth must be attractive.
Good stuff gary!
