One more thing Flags,I noticed pics of you with leopards and lions you shot and killed in Africa. How does that meat compare to that of a whitetail?

Actually, you never saw me in a photo with lions and leopards. I've never shot either, but I have done 5 safaris. While in Africa, I refused to shoot anything that was not eaten. Even the baboons in the photos were eaten by the trackers. The tribe that they belonged to considered baboon a delicacy and I shot them because they specifically asked for the meat. Every scrap of edible meat is utilized during safari. What can not be used by the camp is given to the locals. When they take elephant, the lpcal tribe converges on the site and takes everything except the blood pool. There are 3 things commonly taken on safari that are not eaten, those bring lion, leopard and hyena and for that very reason, I will never shoot one of them.

As to your question on how the African game meat compares to whitetails, that depends. Wildebeest and Gemsbok are kind of musky tatsing. It's good, just different. Zebra is sweet tasting. Warthog is like any pig, good roasted. Impala, Kudu, Eland, Springbok etc... are all really good, with Eland being probably the best meat I've ever had.

Unfortunately, this paticular WMA doen't have a check station and it's pretty close to town so it would be almost impossible to actually catch someone in the act. The entrance to it is less than 3 miles from my house. Pretty hard for the game warden to enforce the laws when it is less than a 10 minute drive to the garage. All in all, a sad set of circumstances.

I'm sorry,I seen some pics of somebody with a leopard and a lion. Some reason I thought they were yours. But you get my point,a lot of people shoot animals that never get eaten. I even use to eat deer hearts and livers. In fact I wouldn't mind some now.
