man has been trying to squirrel proof bird feeders for centuries, so far almost entirely unsuccessfully. imo I'd rather have them eat some corn off the groung than find a more destructive way to get into the feeder. I lined as many of the plastic parts as I could without interferring with the function using alum flashing, metal hardware cloth, glue, duct tape and covered with spray paint. but 1 would usually find a way to sit at the spinner and throw it down to his buddies. it still attracts tons of turkeys, coons, possums and asst other freeloaders. moving the feeder so they have to run a gauntlet of predators has made them much less brazen and have no more pics or visuals of squirrels anyway, others yes, in particular 1 mean looking bull, sandhill cranes, turkeys, coons and possums.

shotgun pellets could possibly richochet off the re-bar and/or damage the tri-pod legs. I used to head shoot the ones brave enough to go up on the spinner, from my stand with a 22 mag (during small game season of course) until one day my aim was off a tad and hit part of the feeder.

Not as good as a deer problem or hog problem but looks like fun!
