It would take a lot of time to scan and post any pics of my dad. He died in '04 from lung cancer at age 60. He loved to hunt and fish and catch snakes when we were little. I wish he could have seen my big 10 pt or my twins play ball.
My dad wasn't a hunter but he sure was a fisherman. When I was growing up we'd go camping and fishing almost every weekend. We had a couple of spots on the Ochlockonee and Little Rivers that we would camp and fish all night. Sometimes when the river was low we'd camp on a sandbar right under the stars. I fished on Lake Talquin with him a lot too. He lived in a trailer on the lake not far from Statomyer's(sp) Landing right before he died back in 1976. We don't have any pictures that I'm aware of. I do remember him taking a picture of me holding a 11lb Channel Cat I caught on the lake though. I'll see if I can dig it up in my mom's stuff.
My dad had to work 2 full time jobs. He was allways in my life until the day he died (After he got out of work) Then he was paralyzed from the waist down the last 12 years of his life. He never fished or hunted. I allways told him to let me take him in his wheelchair to the pier to go fishing. He allways thought it would be a big problem and didnt want to go cause he felt that he would be a burden. Finally he said "sure well go when im feeling better" I was so happy. I went to the pier to fish one night and i got a phone call saying that i needed to get to the hospital because i needed to say good bye. He died while i was fishing.
