I know it's a dumb question, but does anybody else have an issue with arrows hitting high when shooting from a tree stand? At 12' high, I have been having to go up a pin, which is difficult, since I'm only using 2 of my 4 pins, and the top pin is good for 10-30 yards.
When shooting from an elevated position, aim for the point you want the arrow to exit the animal.
I get that part, and I adjust accordingly. But when practicing from a stand at the same distance as on the ground, my arrows seem to hit the target significantly higher. So high, in fact, that most of my shots would be overshots. I'm sure it has something to do with gravity and physics, but it's been so long since I've even tried to do those calculations, I'm at a total loss.
Yeah aim a bit low. I lost a deer 2 years ago That I shot at 6 yards. Hit it way too high in no mans land above the vitals
Yikes! I'm gonna spend a little more time practicing from the stand this month to see if I can narrow down the offset. I think it's somewhere in the neighborhood of a 15 yard pin difference (about 12" high at 35 yards). I think I'm gonna adjust the overall height of my sight and adjust my pins so I have one more above my standard 10-35 yard pin, especially if the offset from the stand is consistent.
