I think, and hope to believe that food plots are primarily to help improve the quality and #'s and general overall health/rack size of the herd on your property.I've hunted in/near lots of private, not pay to hunt, farms and definately targeted trails leading to and from food/water sources. and only in the last few months have ever used a feeder. only thing shot over it have been coons and squirels however. but would'nt think twice about shooting a hog from a ladder stand overlooking my feeder. why else would I go to all that trouble. I'm just looking for some meat right now. definately taking one solo on a wma by using hunting skills and a little luck would give me a great deal more satisfaction. but when the freezers empty and work is almost non existent is no time to be pridefull.

Not sure If "I'd" be as proud if I shot a nice deer over a bait pile . I find it much more rewarding shooting a deer with my bow then with a rifle. But thats just me. I have no problem with baiting when it's done legally. I don't think I would I would consider a food plot to be on the same level as bait either. In no way do I think dumping a bag of corn is gonna guarantee someone a record buck, but I know it sure can up your odds of seeing game. Just was wondering what some others thought on this topic. Seeing I'm bored as hell with it not being hunting season this gives us something to talk about.

I know what you mean John. You provide a lot of good entertainment during the off season though.Right now I'm trying to build a few feeders but my batteries died in my drill.

Thank god for hogs! Otherwise I'd go stir crazy, or I'd be a rabbit hunting fool! :clap
