One of the spots I'm hunting is 1-2' deep and the deer don't mind it at all. They are coming through the cypress on the same trails they used when it was dry. This spot is a giant prairie surrounded on 3 sides with cypress and the other side is dry pineland. There is a cypress funnel about 60 yds wide that runs through the middle of the prairie to the pineland that I sit in and they come from the cypress through the funnel and go around the pineland staying in the water the whole time. I've probably seen 30 deer in 5 or 6 trips and only 1 came out of the pine. On another note I have only seen maybe 10 mosquitos in 3 trips so farthis season.
sounds like a place for a stand.Or is there ribbon tape every 10 feet?
What you mean by the ribbon tape?

trail tape. the rolls of marking tape.
nope... and right behind us is private property
I'd look for feed sign, acorns should be dropping pretty steady now. Like I lovetohunt says, set up between where they're going to and where they're coming from.Pines are good bedding areas.
